The Compassionate Friends Rose

This special rose was launched by our Patron, The Countess of Mountbatten at the Chelsea Flower Show, to celebrate the 25 th anniversary of the founding of The Compassionate Friends in 1994.

TCF offers friendship and understanding, support and encouragement to parents whose child or children of any age (including adults) have died from any cause – accident, illness, murder and suicide.

The Compassionate Friends rose is a low-growing scented pink floribunda; it is suitable for small gardens, growing in containers, and in medium-sized rose-bed or as a low growing hedge. It flowers profusely, and repeats well over a long season.

The price per rose is £6.25 plus £3.95 postage and packing for up to 10 roses and will be delivered by the end of November.

Please fill in the order form on the other side of this leaflet and send with your payment to the National Office, 53 North Street Bristol BS3 1EN.

Thank you for purchasing The Compassionate Friends Rose.

Donations

The Compassionate Friends is funded mainly by donations, membership subscriptions and fundraising from and by bereaved parents and their families, and other supporters.

We receive little funding from government and statutory sources. We need your help to pay for our Helpline, local support groups, publications, website, postal library, and other projects and costs.

Please consider helping us by making a donation, holding a fundraising event or by using one of the fundraising ideas below. Thank you.

There are over 8 million used printer cartridges thrown away each year in the UK. That's equivalent to an area the size and depth of a football stadium!

Help the environment by sending your used printer or fax cartridges to TCF and we will send them for recycling.

For each cartridge TCF sends for recycling we receive a payment.

Please send yours to: TCF Recycled Cartridges, 53 North Street, Bristol BS3 1EN.

Recycle your Mobile Phones

Make money for you and TCF by selling your old mobile phone

Simply visit www.tcf.envirocharities.com

We have teamed up with enviroCharities, a scheme dedicated to helping you as a supporter make money for your old mobile and support TCF at the same time. The process is really simple, it works by you selling your old mobile phone(s) for anything up to £180 on our website (www.tcf.envirocharities.com) and for each sale you make, enviroCharities will automatically make a donation of £3.00 to your charity.

You will always receive the value of your phone as listed on our website but if you are feeling generous you can also donate a percentage value of your mobile phone to TCF . Donations can be made in increments of 10% up to 100%.

To sell your phone or see how much it is worth, simply visit www.tcf.envirocharities.com

Some phones will have no value normally due to age and in this case you will be provided with a freepost address to send item where the phone will be recycled correctly. You will receive no money but TCF will receive a small amount per phone.

So the process is simple;

1. Visit www.tcf.envirocharities and enter the make and model of your phone

2. Register your details the website

3. Post your phone(s) to us, once receiving our freepost envelope in your welcome pack

4. Simply sit back and wait for your money within 7 days

Calculator designed by IT for Charities

Have you filled in your Gift Aid form?

On April 6 2000 the rules for the Gift Aid scheme changed to allow charities to reclaim tax on a far wider range of donations and other receipts. This could be a major new source of income for TCF if everybody making a donation or paying a membership subscription signed a Gift Aid form.

If you are a tax payer who has completed a Gift Aid form then:

TCF can reclaim 28 pence for every £1 you give. This means a £10 donation generates an additional £2.80 given back to TCF by the taxman. TCF can also reclaim tax on such things as Membership Subscriptions and Leaflet Sponsorship.
You only have to fill the form in once! Everything else is taken care of by the office.

Want to know just how much your donation could be worth? Try out our Gift aid calculator.

To obtain a form please click here, or contact the National Office. It isn’t complicated and it’s an easy way of helping TCF at no further cost to you.

Donations

The Compassionate Friends relies heavily on donations to cover the everyday running costs of the organisation in supporting bereaved parents and their families. Every gift towards this is greatly appreciated.

If you are liable for UK Income Tax, then if you would kindly complete a Gift Aid form,
any donation you make to TCF will be increased by almost one third.
